Working With Medstar®

Health News for TV Stations
Reporting on health issues requires expertise in both medicine and journalism. That's why network affiliates subscribe to our news services. Client stations can run our stories as produced, have their own reporter present them, or localize them to suit their audience. This flexibility makes Medstar's services highly attractive to broadcasters.

MedstarSource®
For MedstarSource, we look for personal stories that show viewers the very latest ways to keep their families healthy, and to sort through health advice which is often confusing and contradictory. Compelling video and graphics take viewers inside the laboratory, the operating room, even the human body. We also provide detailed background for each story, with a bibliography of journal articles, and a list of resources such as web sites and telephone hotlines.

Newsrooms subscribing to MedstarSource receive five 90-second reports weekly, featuring interviews with both patients and leading physicians from across the country.

MedstarAdvances®
MedstarAdvances reports on "tomorrow's medical news, today." With video from contacts across the country and our own vast library, we show viewers the future of health care, along with the latest advances in diagnosis and treatments, innovative medical technology, and new research on lifestyle issues like dieting, exercise and parenting.

Newsrooms subscribing to this headline service receive nine "voice-over" segments weekly. Each segment has a run-time of 25-30 seconds.

A Continuing Connection
The stories we produce don't disappear after they air. Electronic advisories update stations about developments such as regulatory approvals and new studies on the topics we've covered. Our website, medstar.com, provides stations with Internet access to scripts and background research, as well as links to other websites for further information.

Maximum Impact
Medstar works far in advance, which means we can maximize a story's impact by coordinating our release dates with publications in journals, presentations at scientific meetings, or educational campaigns. MedstarSource stories are usually developed a full month in advance of release to stations. MedstarAdvances usually requires a minimum lead-time of two weeks. Faster responses for breaking stories are sometimes possible.

Expect The Best
Our editorial staff has decades of combined experience in local and network news. We report on health and medical information exclusively, so we're sensitive to the special concerns of researchers, physicians and patients. You can expect the best, because medical news is what we do all day, every day.
